The Talent Development Program (TDP) is a program unique to the needs of students with a passion for the performing arts at the College. All students will participate in an annual TDP Showcase evening that allows opportunity to present their performance repertoire to a live audience.

The aim of the TDP is to:

  • Further develop and extend skills, experience and confidence;
  • Provide field-trip and/or workshop experiences where appropriate;
  • Represent the College in eisteddfods, competitions, festivals and community events;
  • Develop collaborative skills devising cross-disciplinary theatre performances; and
  • Provide public performances for parents, peers, teachers and the community.

The following TDP programs are currently offered at the College:

Dance
The College offers a range of ensembles and styles for students participating in the artform of Dance including Jazz, Contemporary and JFH (Jazz, Funk and Hip-Hop). Rehearsals take place before and after school and focus on development of technique, performance skills and confidence.

Drama
The TDP Drama Ensemble is set within an exciting and encouraging environment. Students participate in weekly rehearsals which involve warm-up games, improvisation skills, acting for stage, acting for screen, self devised work, scripted work, audition techniques and many other drama skills.

Music
Under the TDP program, the College provides extensive opportunities for students wishing to develop their technique, confidence and skills in music performance. ‘Open’ and ‘Audition’ programs aim to meet the needs of all students, no matter their experience.

Instrumental Tuition can be available in the following areas
  • Wind – Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone
  • Brass – Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba
  • Strings – Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
  • Alternate – Piano, Voice, Contemporary Guitar, Classical Guitar, Percussion

Musical
The College has a long tradition of musical productions. Performed bi-annually, the College produces a whole school musical which is open to all students in Years 7-11. Neighbouring colleges such as St Joseph’s Hunters Hill, St Ignatius College Riverview, Holy Cross College Ryde and Marist College Eastwood are also invited to partake in these productions.

America Tour
Every other year, TDP and elective Performing Arts students self nominate to travel overseas to experience the rich performing arts culture of New York and Los Angeles. In past years students have experienced a range of workshops with Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, Broadway Dance Centre, NYC Vocal Studio, The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institution and Disney Live Entertainment. Throughout the trip, students rehearse and perform multidisciplinary work at various locations including the USS Intrepid and Disneyland.
